A Philadelphia police officer has been taken off patrol after allegedly fighting with another officer while both were on duty Friday night.

The incident involved a male officer and a female officer. The male officer was put on desk duty while detectives with the department's Internal Affairs unit investigates, police spokesman Lt. John Stanford said Monday.

Few details were released about the alleged fight, but it occurred at some point Friday evening in the 18th District, which is covers West Philadelphia south of Market Street. Both officers involved are stationed in the 18th District, Stanford said.

A report on NBCPhiladelphia.com said the female officer suffered two black eyes in the scuffle. Stanford said that account of her injuries is not accurate, but did not give further details.
