Body found on West Philadelphia street

Police are probing the death of a man whose body was found on the street Sunday morning in the Cedar Park section of West Philadelphia.

Emergency personnel initially received a call reporting a man passed out on the 5100 block of Webster Street, according to investigators.

Arriving medics discovered the man suffered an injury, possibly a gunshot wound, to the left side of his neck, police said. He was pronounced dead on the scene shortly before 7 a.m.

No weapon was recovered, police said.

The unidentified victim is described only as a black male of about 50 to 60 years of age. His death has been labeled suspicious, and an investigation remains ongoing.
