Defense concludes in traffic court case with host of character references for accused judges
Lawyers for five former Philadelphia Traffic Court judges on trial for conspiracy and fraud tied to an alleged ticket-fixing conspiracy concluded their defense Tuesday with an onslaught of character witnesses.More than 65 people testified in two hours with many speaking briefly about the judges on trial in the case. They include former Judges Michael J. Sullivan, Michael Lowry, Robert Mulgrew, Willie Singletary and Thomasine Tynes.

Mark A. Bruno, a suburban magistrate, and Robert Moy, a Chinatown court translator, are also charged in the case.
Closing arguments are scheduled for Thursday.
