Collapse at police building under construction injures 4

A new police building under construction in the Hunting Park section of the city partially collapsed this afternoon sending four people to nearby hospitals, fire officials said.

The future home of the Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit, on the 300 block of East Hunting Park Ave., was being framed with two-by-fours about 1 p.m. when beams gave way. The falling wood hurt four construction workers, two of whom were sent to Einstein Medical Center and the other two to Temple University Hospital. The injuries were said to be non-life threatening, police said.
