A person was struck and killed by an Amtrak train while walking on tracks in the Torresdale section of Philadelphia about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, a railroad representative said.

The unidentified victim was hit by a Northeast Regional train that was carrying 296 passengers on the way to New York City, Amtrak said. No passengers or crew members were injured.

Service was temporarily suspended on the line, though trains had resumed operating through the area by late Sunday night. Amtrak said no further information about the victim was immediately available.
