A woman driving a sports utility vehicle crashed into the front of a commercial building near 11th Street and Lehigh Avenue in North Philadelphia this evening, leaving her and three passengers injured, police said.

All four people inside the Ford Excursion were taken to area hospitals, but medics told officers at the scene that the injured were all in stable condition, according to a report issued by a police department spokeswoman.

A partial collapse of the building occurred when the SUV careened off West Silver Street in the 1100 block shortly after 6:30 p.m., the report said.

The building was unoccupied at the time and no drugs or alcohol was initially believed to be involved, though police did not yet determine a cause by 8 p.m.
