DOYLESTOWN Roger Collins, for 12 years the executive director of the Bucks County Opportunity Council, has been named the county's new director of housing and community development, the commissioners announced Tuesday.

Collins on Monday assumed a position that had been filled on an interim basis for about two years, said county spokesman Chris Edwards.

Collins also served on the county's Workforce Investment Board and was on the commissioners' former Economic Development Advisory Board, among other community roles.

Commissioner chairman Robert Loughery said in a statement that Collins' "experience and knowledge of our community will be a tremendous asset" to county government.

Collins will be paid $81,600 in his new role, the county said.
