Police shot and critically injured a man in Olney who drew a gun on them during a traffic stop Wednesday night, authorities said.

The 55-year-old man, whose name was not released, was driving a GMC Denali on the 100 block of West Champlost Street around 9:15 p.m. when two officers stopped his car. The officers told the man to get out of the car, and while they frisked him, the man started struggling, police said.

The man pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at the officers. He may have fired one shot at them, police said, and both officers fired on him, hitting him multiple times.

The man was taken to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition, and a gun was recovered at the scene. There were no injuries to police or anyone else. - Allison Steele
