Polie probe murders in Southwest, Northeast Philly

A man was found shot dead this morning in Cobbs Creek Park in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.

A man was found shot dead this morning in Cobbs Creek Park in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.

The unidentified victim, who was 20 to 30 years old, had been shot in the head, police said.

He was found in the park near Hoffman Avenue at 7:24 a.m. and pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives also were investigating the shooting death of a man last night in his Northeast Philadelphia home.

Police said they found Roberto Paredes shot in the head in the house on the 900 block of Anchor Street in the Summerdale section at 6:54 p.m. yesterday. Medics pronounced him dead at 7:10.

Detectives were seeking a motive in the slaying, the 36th of the year.
