Sandra Tull, of Wilmington, might want to consider sending a bouquet of flowers and a thank-you note to Braves manager Bobby Cox.
Cox' decision to bring in reliever Julian Tavarez in the Phillies' series finale with the Braves yesterday paid off for both Tull and the Fightins'. Pat Burrell's fifth-inning blast off Tavarez made Tull the 13th winner in the Daily News Home Run Payoff contest this season.
Tull could not be reached for comment as a continuous busy signal hindered the Daily News in providing the good news.
We're assuming the phone was busy because she was already on the line with Teleflora.
Eight others collected prizes in the Daily News Home Run Payoff contest over the weekend.
Each winning a Phillies Gift Pack in the fifth inning of yesterday's Phillies-Braves game were:
Zac Zulli, Primos
Jeanette Louie, Cinnaminson, N.J.
Joey Jerome, Drexel Hill
Mary Mattio, Philadelphia
Four others won a gift pack in the sixth inning of Saturday's Phillies-Braves contest:
Don Habermehl, West Chester
Anitta Dowdell, Yardley
David Stewart, Narberth
Pat Madden, Philadelphia
The Daily News pays $1,000 for a home run hit in the Payoff inning and $10,000 for a grand slam. Contestants whose batter fails to hit a home run receive a gift pack, which includes a variety of Phillies-related items.
This season, the Daily News has paid out $13,000.
