Robbery suspect arrested Upper Darby and Philadelphia police last night arrested a 19-year-old West Philadelphia man in connection with a string of Dunkin' Donuts robberies, investigators said. SWAT unit officers and members of Southwest Detectives captured the suspect outside his home on 62nd Street near Lansdowne Avenue. Police were waiting late last night for a warrant to search the teen's home for additional evidence.

Gas-station owner robbed

A 52-year-old gas-station owner was robbed of $45,000 shortly before 2 p.m. yesterday at Adams Avenue and Tabor Road, in Northeast Philadelphia.

Cops said that the man had been walking from his station in the area to a Wachovia Bank branch to make a deposit when the incident occurred. The two suspects fled in an older-model bluish-green Pontiac Bonneville, police said. Tipsters should call 215-686-TIPS.

Squatter-killer gets death

Gov. Rendell yesterday signed a death warrant for Daniel Gwynn, 38, a Philadelphia squatter who started a fire in a vacant building on Chestnut Street near 45th, West Philadelphia, on Nov. 20, 1994, which killed another squatter, Marsha Smith, over whom he had been fighting with other squatters. He is scheduled to die by injection on Dec. 18.

Forest fire in S. Jersey

A major forest fire burned parts of three South Jersey counties yesterday, engulfing hundreds of acres of forest and forcing the closure of Route 206.

The blaze burned through a section of Wharton State Forest, spanning parts of Camden, Burlington and Atlantic counties. Maris Gabliks, chief of the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, said that about 700 acres had been burned by 8 p.m. and that the fire was about 20 percent contained.

Chester student shoots self

A 14-year-old Chester High School student, playing with a gun with another student, accidentally shot himself in the right arm yesterday in a home a half-block from the school, police said. He was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for treatment. *
