Lancaster Central Market

Open Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, this is the oldest continuously operating public market in the United States. In fact, it's older than the U.S., dating to 1730. Scores of vendor stands offer a wide variety of foods, it's worth a visit for anybody. Standouts include:

* The Goodie Shop (Stand 54), with vegan salads and, usually, a vegan soup and/or entree option.

* Saife's Middle Eastern Food (Stand 6) has vegan wraps, falafel, stuffed grape leaves - and a vegan baklava (no honey).

* Lancaster Salad Co. (Stand 7) makes vegan salads to order with ingredients from market stands.

Pasquale's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria

In an otherwise standard Italian-restaurant lineup, vegan cheese is offered as a pizza topping.

Prince Street Cafe

Has a nice view of the historic Fulton Theater. Casual cafe has a vegan hummus wrap and some vegan baked goods. Also carries Rijuice.

Rice & Noodles Restaurant

Com Dau Hu Xao Hanh is all-vegan. Most dishes have a tofu protein option, and some sauces are vegan.

Root

Pub-style food in a friendly bar setting with TVs and jukebox. Next menu update, starting Monday, will feature a vegan cheesesteak.

The Seed
