Night bringing 'Love' to Philly

COME September, M. Night Shyamalan is expected to be shooting again in Philadelphia.

And he's bringing Bruce Willis with him.

Deadline.com reports that the director and star behind "The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable" will reteam for "Labor of Love," from a script a young Shyamalan sold to 20th Century Fox in 1993 that has remained unproduced.

A hint that the script has been sitting on the shelf awhile? Willis will play the owner of a Philadelphia bookstore whose wife dies in a tragic accident. After guilt ensues, he honors her memory by walking from Philadelphia to her favorite place in California.

All Hong Kong tycoon Cecil Chao wanted for his daughter Gigi was a good man.

And if not a good man . . . a man.

Cecil was so eager to find his daughter a "good husband," even though he himself had never married, that he recently offered a $65 million payday to the gentleman who could successfully woo his daughter.

For $65 million, most men would woo a rhino.

And Gigi is no rhino.

She is, however, married.

Gigi married her long-term girlfriend Sean Eav in France in 2012, but same-sex unions are not recognized in Hong Kong.

On Tuesday, Gigi wrote a letter to two of Hong Kong's largest newspapers essentially saying that her dad needs to get over it.

As per the BBC, the letter said Gigi did not expect her father and her partner "to be best of friends" but "it would mean the world to me if you could just not be so terrified of her, and treat her like a normal, dignified human being.

"I'm sorry to mislead you to think I was only in a lesbian relationship because there was a shortage of good, suitable men in Hong Kong," she went on.

So, Mr. Chao, since you won't be spending $65 million on that husband, might you be interested in a website and two Philadelphia newspapers?

Life & Style reports that Kanye West's multimillion-dollar renovation of his Bel Air home is taking so long, Kim and baby North may be bunking at Kris Jenner's mansion until the summer.

Life & Style says the upgrades include the obvious perks of the wealthy: "A new gym, movie theater, bowling alley, 'top quality' recording studio, over-the-top dressing room and basketball court."

The mag, however, also says Kanye has ordered millions of dollars of Italian custom furniture, nearly $1 million worth of Electrolux kitchen appliances, a Swarovski-encrusted refrigerator and beds made from cashmere, virgin lamb's wool and Mongolian horse hair.

OK, the furniture is understandable, but the bed is nuts, the fridge is nuttier and who the heck needs $1 million worth of kitchen appliances?

Just imagine what Project HOME could do with $1 million in kitchen appliances - probably outfit 1,000 kitchens.

* An online petition to deport Justin Bieber (to Canada) has gotten so many signatures (more than 100,000) that the White House is going to consider it.

As long as Selena Gomez didn't sign 99,999 times.

* Life & Style also says Amanda Bynes has started school at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, looks great and is doing awesome.

Good for her.

* The Romanian cinema board has declared Lars von Trier's "Nymphomaniac II" unfit for public viewing.

The movie was due to be released Feb. 7, but the National Center of Cinematography said yesterday that the film would be labeled IM 18 XXX - banned to minors and the general public.

(If a film is banned to the "general public" isn't it . . . banned?)

Distributor Independence Film called it "a case of censorship which is unique in Europe," and said it would appeal. Georgica Severin, chairman of the Senate's Culture Committee, criticized the decision, saying "Nymphomaniac I" was already running in Romanian cinemas.

The two-part film is a drama about a woman's erotic journey from birth to age 50.

So, basically, the censors are saying that young nymphomaniacs are cool but no one needs to see middle-aged nymphos.

* On her brief winter relevance tour, Madonna has gone from pairing with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis at the Grammys to grinding with Miley Cyrus for an upcoming episode of "MTV Unplugged" to introducing Pussy Riot at the Feb. 5 Amnesty International concert, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The woman stays busy.

* In case you wondered whether Americans cared more about football or television, NBC has provided the answer.

This year's Emmy Awards will air on a weeknight instead of its traditional Sunday slot.

NBC and the TV academy say the ceremony honoring prime-time TV's best is set for Monday, Aug. 25, due to a potential conflict with NBC's "Sunday Night Football."

The last time the Emmy ceremony was held on a Monday was in May 1976.

* Motley Crue plans to retire following a 72-concert tour of the United States and Canada.

Alice Cooper will tour with the group. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, with prices starting at $15.

The band members have signed a legal agreement promising not to perform as Motley Crue after 2015.

"We want to go out with the four founding members of Motley Crue and go out on top," lead singer Vince Neil said.

"We want to leave a legacy," guitarist Nikki Sixx added. "We want to have some dignity."
