Eagles parade: Road closures, parking for Super Bowl celebration in Philadelphia, other impacts

Numerous road closures and parking restrictions will be in place along the parade route from the Stadium Complex to the Art Museum and Fairmount Park.

The city will close roads, restrict parking and suspended trash collection to stage Thursday's Eagles Super Bowl parade. Here's what you need to know.

Road Closures

Road closures will come in stages, starting on Tuesday, and most will remain in place until about 6 p.m. Thursday.

The inner lanes (inbound and outbound) of Benjamin Franklin Parkway will be closed from Eakins Oval to 20th Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. This closure will not be in effect during morning and evening rush hours, and cross streets will remain open to traffic throughout.

Thursday

The following streets will be closed according to the schedules listed below.

5 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  1. Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 16th Street and 20th Street (including Logan Circle)

  2. 17th Street between Arch Street and Vine Street

  3. 18th Street between Arch Street and Vine Street

  4. 19th Street between Arch Street and Vine Street

  5. Race Street between 20th Street and Logan Circle

  6. 20th Street between Race Street and Callowhill Street

  7. Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 20th Street and Eakins Oval (all lanes)

  8. 21st Street between Spring Garden Street and Winter Street; local access to Pennsylvania Avenue only

  9. 22nd Street between Spring Garden Street and Race Street; local access to Park Towne Place residents only

  10. 23rd Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Benjamin Franklin Parkway; local access only as conditions allow

  11. 24th Street between Benjamin Franklin Parkway and Park Towne Place

  12. Park Towne Place between 22nd Street and 24th Street; local access to Park Towne Place residents only

  13. Pennsylvania Avenue/Callowhill Street between 20th Street and 21st Street; local access to Barnes Foundation driveway (westbound) only. Eastbound open from 21st Street.

  14. Spring Garden Street between 22nd Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway; local access only as conditions allow

  15. Spring Garden Tunnel

  16. Waterworks Drive

  17. I-676 westbound 22nd Street off-ramp

  18. 2000 block of Winter Street

  19. Kelly Drive between Benjamin Franklin Parkway and Strawberry Mansion Drive

  20. Martin Luther King Drive between Eakins Oval and Montgomery Drive

  21. Spring Garden Street Bridge at 31st Street

  22. Anne d'Harnoncourt Drive

  23. 25th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Kelly Drive

The following streets will be designated "local access only" west of 22nd Street:

  1. Wallace Street

  2. Vernon Street

  3. Green Street

  4. Judson Street

  5. Brandywine Street

9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

  1. South Broad Street between Pattison Avenue and South Penn Square

  2. Penn Square between Broad Street and 15th Street

  3. 15th Street between Chestnut Street and Vine Street

  4. 16th Street between Chestnut Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway

  5. 1500-1600 Market Street

  6. 1500-1600 JFK Boulevard

  7. I-95 northbound and southbound Broad Street off-ramp

  8. I-76 eastbound and westbound Broad Street off-ramp (Sports Complex)

10 a.m. until conditions allow

  1. All cross streets on Broad Street from Pattison Avenue to South Penn Square, from 13th Street to 15th Street

  2. Pattison Avenue between 7th Street and 20th Street

Noon until 9 p.m.

  1. JFK Boulevard between 20th Street and 29th Street/Schuylkill Avenue

  2. 29th Street/Schuylkill Avenue between Market Street and JFK Boulevard

  3. 30th Street between Market Street and Arch Street

  4. I-76 westbound 30th Street off-ramp

  5. I-76 eastbound 30th Street off-ramp

  6. I-76 westbound Schuylkill Avenue on-ramp

  7. Filbert Street between 10th Street and 12th Street

  8. 10th Street between Filbert Street and Race Street

  9. 11th Street between Filbert Street and Race Street

  10. 12th Street between Filbert Street and Race Street

 6 p.m. – Overnight

The inner lanes (inbound and outbound) of Benjamin Franklin Parkway will be closed from Eakins Oval to 20th Street will be closed. Cross streets will remain open to traffic throughout, and all roads will be open prior to the morning rush hour on Friday, Feb. 9.

Parking, Bike Lanes and Trash Collection

Temporary no-parking restrictions along the parade route and on adjacent streets will start at 6 p.m. Wednesday and will remain in place until 6 p.m. Thursday.

  1. South Broad Street from South Penn Square to Pattison Avenue (both sides of the street, including the center median)

  2. All cross streets on Broad Street from Pattison Avenue to Chestnut Street from 13th Street to 15th Street (both sides of the street)

  3. Penn Square from Broad Street to 15th Street (both sides of the street)

  4. 15th Street from Chestnut Street to Vine Street (both sides of the street)

  5. 1500 Arch Street (both sides of the street)

  6. 1400-1600 JFK Blvd. (both sides of the street)

  7. Benjamin Franklin Parkway from 16th Street to 20th Street (both sides of the street)

  8. Kelly Drive along Boathouse Row

  9. Sedgley Drive between Kelly Drive and Poplar Drive

  10. Waterworks Drive

  11. 1500-1600 Market Street (both sides of the street)

  12. 1600 Cherry Street (both sides of the street)

  13. Pennsylvania Avenue from 22nd Street to 24th Street (south side of the street)

  14. Benjamin Franklin Parkway from 20th Street to Eakins Oval (all lanes; both sides)

  15. 22nd Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Winter Street (both sides of the street)

  16. 21st Street between Pennsylvania Avenue & Race Street (both sides of the street)

  17. 20th Street from Race Street to Callowhill Street (both sides of the street)

  18. 19th Street from Arch Street to Vine Street (both sides of the street)

  19. 18th Street from Arch Street to Vine Street (both sides of the street)

  20. 17th Street from Arch Street to Vine Street (both sides of the street)

  21. 16th Street from Market Street to Benjamin Franklin Parkway (both sides of the street)

  22. 1500-1600 Market Street (both sides of the street)

  23. 1600 Cherry Street (both sides of the street)

  24. Park Towne Place between 22nd and 24th Streets (north side of the street)

  25. 2000-2200 Spring Garden Street (both sides of the street)

  26. 2000 Winter Street

  27. Police say there will be no parking allowed at FDR Park.

  28. The Navy Yard said it also will not be open for parking except for businesses there.

Bicycle Lane Detours

During the parade, several bicycle lanes along Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Broad Street, and streets in the vicinity will be inaccessible.  Cyclists are advised to use caution when traveling in the area.

Trash Collection

Normal residential trash and recycling collection will be suspended on Thursday. The Streets Department will operate on a holiday schedule and pick-up will be delayed by one day. Residents with a normal collection on Thursday should place their trash and recycling curbside on Friday.

Postal Service

Collection boxes along the parade route will blocked and out of service starting Wednesday until Friday as a security measure.

The U.S. Postal Service says it will attempt deliver mail in those neighborhoods along parade route with roadways, streets, and mailboxes that are safely accessible.

The following postal retail locations will be closed on Thursday:  Middle City 19103, Land Title 19110, John Wanamaker 19107, Penn Center 19102, Castle 19148, Fairmount 19130 and 30th Street Train Station 19104. The Philadelphia Main Office at 3000 Chestnut St. will close at 8 p.m. instead of 9 p.m. The following locations will all close by 5 p.m. on Thursday: Point Breeze, Penn's Landing, Roosevelt Mal, Bustleton and Franklin Mills.
