Rex Medical cites successful retrieval of its blood-clot filter

Rex Medical L.P., in Conshohocken, today said the company has successfully retrieved its filter device that captures blood clots through the femoral vein, or the groin.

Rex Medical L.P., in Conshohocken, today said the company has successfully retrieved its filter device that captures blood clots through the femoral vein, or the groin.

The firm, which has also retrieved its implanted device from the jugular vein in patients, said it has begun clinical trials in 10 U.S. medical centers.

The medical-device company has also enrolled 29 patients in an international study in Paraguay to test retrieval of its device, which is implanted in patients who have deep vein thrombosis, blood clots in the leg, or are at risk for pulmonary embolism. Rex Medical, founded in 1999, has 17 employees.
