Instem, a Conshohocken provider of IT to companies in the early-development health-care market, has hired MaryBeth Thompson as chief operating officer. Thompson had been vice president of global regulatory services at the life sciences consulting firm Paraxel International.

Instem, a Conshohocken provider of IT to companies in the early-development health-care market, has hired MaryBeth Thompson as chief operating officer. Thompson had been vice president of global regulatory services at the life sciences consulting firm Paraxel International.

American Water Works Co., Voorhees, a water and wastewater utility company, has named Eric Beaumont vice president of strategic business development. He had worked at Barclays as a chartered financial analyst covering water, power, and utility stocks.

Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau has promoted Svetlana Yazovskikh to executive director of tourism. She had been senior international tourism manager.

Jo-Ann Mendel has been promoted to vice president for human resources from director of human resources at the Wistar Institute, a West Philadelphia nonprofit specializing in basic biomedical research with a focus on cancer and vaccines. Also, Luis J. Montaner has been promoted to vice president for scientific operations from associate director of shared resources in the cancer center.

Ed Brassel has been promoted to executive vice president of enterprise business intelligence at Comcast Cable and NBCUniversal. He had been senior vice president, business intelligence, at Comcast Cable.

Markus Weidner has been hired as chief innovation officer at Pennoni, a Philadelphia consulting engineering firm. He had been director of technology at Nelson.

Kroll, a provider of risk mitigation, compliance, security, and incident response solutions, has appointed Mark Ehlers, managing director with its investigations and disputes practice, as the new head of the Philadelphia office.

Walnut Street Theatre has hired Bonnie S. Stevens as director of development. She had been director of development for Geva Theatre Center in Rochester, NY.

Lynelle A. Gleason has been hired as an associate at Williams Family Law, Doylestown. She had been an associate at Kardos, Rickles, Hand & Bidlingmaier.

Duane Morris LLP has named Nicole K. McLaughlin and John M. Neclerio as division heads of its Intellectual Property Practice Group. McLaughlin is chair of the Trademark, Copyright, Entertainment, and Advertising Practice Group. Neclerio is chair of the Technology Transactions and Licensing Practice Group.

NHS, a Philadelphia provider of community-based, nonprofit education and human services, has hired Sylvia Purnell as executive director of NHS Human Services Foundation, the philanthropic branch of the organization. She had been with United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, where she managed workplace fund-raising campaigns.

Mark Aguilar has been hired as vice president for finance and chief financial officer of Simpson Senior Services. He had been chief financial officer at Fellowship Village, Basking Ridge, N.J.

V3 Insurance Partners LLC, Newtown, has expanded its workers' compensation practice with the additions of Ken Stryczek, vice president and product manager; Karen Megson, senior underwriter; and Amy Feltmann, senior underwriter.

Philadelphia Youth Sports Collaborative has hired Beth Devine as executive director. She is the founder of Philly Girls in Motion Inc. and was a member of Mayor Kenney's transition team.

Rebecca A. Foulds has been named assistant director of the Center Point Training Center of Developmental Enterprises Corp., a Norristown nonprofit provider of therapeutic, vocational, and habilitation services for adults with intellectual challenges and other developmental disabilities. She had been program specialist at Indian Creek Foundation.

Robert Zion has been hired as chief operating officer at the Investment Fund for Foundations (TIFF) in West Conshohocken. He also joins the firm's executive committee. He held the same post at Hirtle Callaghan & Co., a firm offering outsourced chief investment officer services to family groups as well as endowments.

Coventry First, a Fort Washington life settlement company, has named Reid Buerger CEO. He had been executive vice president. His father, Coventry cofounder Alan Buerger, is executive chairman and his mother, cofounder Constance Buerger, will continue in her role as president.

Capehart Scatchard, Mount Laurel, admitted the following attorneys to the firm as shareholders: Jessica M. Anderson, litigation; Charles F. Holmgren, litigation; Nicholas A. Dibble, workers' compensation; Scott J. Endlein, workers' compensation; Ashley T. Mollenthiel Fiore, workers' compensation; and Daniel P. Robinson, workers' compensation. Drewry Nash Fennell has been named chief officer of strategic communication and development at Christiana Care Health System, Newark, Del. Fennell had been chief of staff in the office of Delaware Gov. Jack Markell.

KPMG has named Peter Beale tax business unit partner-in-charge. He retains his role as a partner in the federal tax practice, specializing in accounting methods and credit services. Tony Bevacqua has been named advisory office leader. He retains his role as a principal in the management consulting practice.

NGKF Capital Markets has hired David Garonzik as managing director. He had been director of asset management for the Buccini/Pollin Group.

Matthew Post has been hired as vice president of Medicare sales services at Health Partners Plans, a nonprofit Philadelphia-managed health-care organization. He had been senior director for Evolent Health.

Jacob Fisher has been promoted to regional vice president of development at Penrose, a Philadelphia developer and operator of affordable communities. He joined the company as an intern in 2006 and most recently served as senior developer.

Hyatt at the Bellevue in Center City has named Carolyn McCammon director of sales and marketing. A hospitality veteran with over 25 years in the industry, she had been regional director of sales, wholesale, for Hyatt Resorts in Hawaii.

The Philadelphia-based health-care IT company RoundTrip has hired Alex Lekacz as a client-services specialist. Lekacz had been an associative intern at EmCare, based in Philadelphia.
