St. Joseph's Preparatory School, an independent Catholic college-prep school in Philadelphia, has elected Jim Mergiotti board chair. A 1971 graduate of the Prep, Mergiotti is president of Peirce College. M. Shawn Bort, who has served as chair of the finance committee for the last several years, has been elected vice chair. The first woman to serve as vice chair in the history of the school, Bort was chief financial officer of Saint-Gobain Corp. for 10 years before retiring in June. The following alumni have been elected to the board of trustees: Michael D. Gayda, '72, cofounder of PBF Energy, now retired; Stephen J. Gleason, '83, president of Kairos Real Estate Partners; and the Rev. Thomas A. Pesci, '67, former president of Rockhurst High School (Missouri) and Loyola Blakefield High School (Maryland).

The Valerie Fund, a Maplewood, N.J., nonprofit that supports the comprehensive care of children with blood disorders and cancer, has named Dominic DiBari chairman. He is managing director for Black & Veatch.

Shayna Slater has been named cochair of the Camden County Bar Association's Class Action Committee. In addition, Slater serves as trustee of both the Camden County Bar Association and the Camden County Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the Camden County Bar Association. Slater is an associate at Anapol Weiss, Philadelphia.

The Montgomery County Estate Planning Council has named the following board officers: Timothy Zeigler, director of business development at Kamelot Auction House, president; Cindy Diccianni, principal at Diccianni Financial Group, first vice president; Daniel Sierchio, owner and financial adviser at Sierchio Financial Group, second vice president/treasurer; and Stephen A. Tulli, vice president of investments at Wells Fargo Advisors LLC, secretary. Other board members include: Jeffrey D. Helphrey, manager at Wouch, Maloney & Co. LLP; Dennis Mahoney, president at IKOR of Delaware & Montgomery Counties; Amy Parenti, vice president of trusts and estates at Samuel T. Freeman & Co.; Rosemary R. Ferrino, principal attorney at Montco Elder Law; Mark Moran, vice president and founding partner at Estate and Pension Advisory Board; and Leslie K. Heffernen, principal attorney of Heffernen Law Offices.

Dennis I. Markowitz

has been elected president of the Buxmont Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Tax & Accounting Professionals. He had served as vice president. Markowitz retired as the founder and tax partner for Financial Group Plus Inc., Southampton.

Applied Bank, Wilmington, has named Carmen Facciolo Jr. to its board. Facciolo is president of NAI Emory Hill Real Estate Services Inc. and vice president of Emory Hill & Co., the construction division in New Castle.

Privakey, a Philadelphia provider of cloud-based digital identity and authentication services, has appointed Pamela Strisofsky to its board. Strisofsky, is chairwoman of Ardica Technologies. She also is on both the board and the finance committee of the First Hospital Foundation. She spent more than 15 years as managing director and chief financial officer of TL Ventures, an early-stage venture-capital firm with $1.5 billion under management.

Michael J. Serverson, senior manager at Comcast Cable, has been elected president of the board of the Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides emergency shelter and support services to at-risk families. He also was named chairman of Feast of Justice, a Philadelphia group that strives to empower the transformation of individuals, families, and communities through work in hunger programs, education programs, and life skills/counseling programs.
