What to see during Five Dollar Comedy Week

Coming from the minds of Kate Banford and Aaron Nevins, Five Dollar Comedy Week returns for its second summer season featuring 30 original performances for only $5.

Taking place at the Plays & Players Theater, performances will run Monday, July 20 through July, 26 and include stand-ups, workshops, audience interactions, and more.

Here are 10 shows not to miss. 

Monday, July 20
A common fear is public speaking. Watch as Kate Banford transforms one audience member into a pro at public speaking during Talkmasters at 8 p.m. Hey, that lucky audience member could be you.

Tuesday, July 21 
Is the Plays & Players Theater really haunted? Watch as Aaron Nevins performs a variety of methods to bring out the ghouls during a Ghost-hunting Workshop. Show starts at 4 p.m.

Some As Seen on TV products are really ridiculous. At 7 p.m., watch as Quinton J. Alexander hosts a talk show featuring numerous items that you should buy but actually really don't need.

Wednesday, July 22
If headlines get the best of you, Buzzworthable at 7 p.m. may be the best show pick for you. Hosted by Joe Moore, this show has comics going head-to-head to create the most attractive headlines, and you and the rest of the audience will decide whose is best. Be careful -- you don't know what is waiting after that first line!

Learn about a handful of romantic stories in all forms of shapes and sizes, gone wrong and great, through comics Matt Schmid, Jacquie Baker, and special guests. The Love Show starts at 8 p.m.  

Thursday, July 23
For a rather dark performance: Comic Charles Blyzniuk, Jon Lalu, and James Masciulli, who've never attempted this before, will try to do whatever it takes to bring Satan into the theater. Black Mass starts at 10 p.m.

Friday, July 24
Hosted by BABS, Toy Testing will bring out your inner child as a panel of comics discuss gadgets, games, dolls, and more. Show starts at 7 p.m.  

Saturday, July 25
With Tinder being so hot in social media right now, it's only right that a comic show be made about it. The Tinder Show features Max Barth and Eddie Finn as they try to match with fellow audience profiles in hopes of a future date. Show starts at 11:59 p.m.

Sunday, July 26
Does your brother play Dungeon and Dragons all day long? If so, learn how to ruin his game addiction during this workshop by Matt Aukamp. No gaming experience necessary. Show starts at 4 p.m.  

For a show you can't take an eye off of: At 8 p.m., watch as 60 comics get one minute each to spit their jokes during one of the week's final performances: One-Minute Monologues.
