Satisfy your sweet tooth at Seaport Museum's 'Oh Sugar!' exhibit starting August 16

The Seaport Museum's exhibit, Oh Sugar! opens its sugar-coated doors on Friday, August 16.

The Seaport Museum's highly anticipated exhibit, Oh Sugar! opens its sugar-coated doors on Friday, Aug. 16.

The exhibit, curated by Ryan and Eric Berley, chronicles the super-sweet love affair Philly always has had with delectable confections. From colonial sugar cane trade to candy manufacturing, the history of sweet stuff will be illustrated with more than 100 artifacts on display.

The Berley brothers are definitely the perfect duo to curate such an exhibit, since they are the masterminds behind the city's Shane Confectionery and The Franklin Fountain.

Visitors will get a glimpse of the Berley brothers' tools of the confectionery trade, and kids can emanate the old-fashioned candy makers of yore in a model confectionery kitchen.

But of course, the kitchen must come to life, and at Oh Sugar!  life is in the form of candy-making demonstrations for everyone to enjoy. You can check out the full schedule here.

At the end of your sweet escape, you can indulge in various candies from Shane Confectionery in the exhibit gift shop. As long as you control your cravings, this wonderful exhibit surely will not give you a toothache.
