Steiner Brothers to headline hall of fame induction ceremony

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum revealed its 2014 class of inductees for the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame Tuesday.

Rick and Scott Steiner will be enshrined together alongside Wilbur Snyder.

According to a press release, the criteria used for selecting new members into the hall include substantial impact on professional wrestling, general respect within the profession and a strong amateur wrestling background.

The Steiner Brothers embody those criteria, as they were both wrestlers at the University of Michigan during the 1980s. Rick Steiner lettered for Michigan three times. Scott Steiner lettered four times and was an All-American selection in 1986.

They were a successful tag team during their the early portion of their careers, as they won the WWE, WCW and IWGP world tag team championships.

Scott Steiner continued to have success after he and his brother no longer were a tag team, as he won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship during the late 1990s.

According to the release, Snyder was a successful territorial wrestler from the 1950s through the 1980s, including some big matches against Thesz and Verne Gagne. Snyder also played for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League and the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League. He passed way on Dec. 25, 1991.

The induction ceremony will take place during a weekend of festivities July 18-19 of 2014 in Waterloo, Iowa.
