Stock, the popular Southeast Asian shop, opens in Rittenhouse

Four years after opening Stock, a modest Southeast Asian BYOB, in Fishtown, Tyler Akin has rolled out a second location, in Rittenhouse.

Stock Rittenhouse, taking the former WokWorks at 1935 Chestnut St., opens at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30. Regular hours — 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. — will begin Friday, Aug. 31. It will be closed on Labor Day.

It's also less than four blocks from Res Ipsa, the hit cafe that Akin co-owns.

Stock Rittenhouse's setup is built on the fast-casual, order-at-the-counter format, opposed to Fishtown's full-service approach.

The menu (see below) includes a build-your-own assortment of soups, salads, cold noodles, banh mi, and snacks.

Customers start by choosing a protein — soy ginger tofu, Thai fried chicken, grilled gai yang chicken, sai oua seitan, caramelized pork, or grilled shrimp — and then a base, such as Lao curry soup, or a salad, or cold noodles, or a banh mi.

Akin also is also offering dishes such as chicken lettuce wraps, Thai beef jerky, and spring rolls.

Note: Stock's Fishtown location will be closed Aug. 30.
