Desmin and Jania Daniels, who opened Rose Petals Café in Germantown five years ago, will debut their second location — a breakfast-and-luncher in Yorktown Plaza at Church Road and Old York Road in Elkins Park — on Sept. 21 with a 10 a.m. waffle-cutting. (Tastier than a ribbon, right?)

Opening day will feature a "pay-what-you-wish" fundraiser benefiting the Cheltenham School District's arts programs.

The couple — he's 37 and a former an engineer for Texas Instruments, as well as an educator in Philadelphia schools, and she's 36 and a special-ed teacher — have been married for 12 years and have three children.

The restaurant's name honors Desmin's younger sister Rose, who was murdered in 2011 at the age of 27.

Elkins Park's pork-free menu will be similar to that served in Germantown, which grew from that of a waffle house to include pancakes, omelets, sandwiches, salads, flatbreads, and soul food dishes. It's all pork-free. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available. It's BYOB.

It will serve breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Sunday, with delivery offered through Grubhub and Uber Eats.
