The 2016 summertime beer garden lineup is getting mighty interesting.
How about heading to the 51st floor of one of Philadelphia's tallest buildings for a cold one and a view for miles over the bridges?
Top of the Tower - the event space on the 50th and 51st floor of Three Logan Square (1717 Arch St.), whose SkyBrunch is a hot ticket on Sundays - has struck a deal with Doug Hager and Jeremy Nolen of the Brauhaus Schmitz and Whetstone restaurants to open SkyGarten.
It's opening on a limited basis at 5 p.m. June 7 for Center City Sips; the actual opening date is TBA.
SkyGarten has taken 3,000 square feet inside and outside, offering four draft lines and many canned German beers plus local crafts. The initial tap lineup is Double Nickel Pilsner from Pennsauken's Double Nickel Brewing Company, and three Germans: Warsteiner Dunkel, the unfiltered Hofbrauhaus Sommerbier, and Schöfferhoffer Grapefruit Weizen.
