Menzfit bringing ‘In Per Suit of Change’ event to Armour for MLK Day

When Martin Luther King Jr.’s name comes to mind, images of civil rights and equality abound. Men’s fashion? Less so, but just try telling that to men’s clothing shop Armour.

When Martin Luther King Jr.'s name comes to mind, images of civil rights and equality abound. Men's fashion? Less so, but just try telling that to men's clothing shop Armour.

In conjunction with clothing charity Menzfit, Armour is celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in style with their "In Per Suit of Change" event, taking place January 15 at 6 p.m. It's not just a name grab, though, with Menzfit and Armour asking attendees to donate their "gently used" men's accessories like belts, cuff links, ties, shoes and (unused) socks.

Additionally, guests who actually bring along items to donate will be entered into a drawing to win a free 45-minute style consultation from a New York-based style expert. But don't worry—you've got through MLK weekend to get your entry in before a winner is drawn on the 22nd.

Menzfit will take the donated clothes and give them out to underprivileged men to wear to job interviews and the like. Ultimately, the goal is to "increase the overall impact on disadvantages persons to lead productive and sustainable lives." Had MLK gone the Versace route, he'd have been saying the same thing.

So box up those old ties and cufflinks and get down to Armour. Equality is only a subway ride away.
