Phillies prospect Ben Lively named pitcher of the week

For the second time in three weeks, a member of double-A Reading's pitching staff was named the Eastern League's pitcher of the week.

Ben Lively, who the Phillies acquired this offseason from Cincinnati for Marlon Byrd, received the award on Monday after making two starts last week. The righthander threw seven shutout innings and struck out seven batters last Monday. Lively struck out nine batters on Sunday and allowed three runs on seven hits.

The 23-year-old is 2-0 with a 2.16 ERA in four starts. He has 24 strikeouts and seven walks in 25 innings.

Zach Eflin, 21, was named the league's pitcher of the week on April 20. He is 2-1 with a 1.14 ERA in four starts. The righthander has 12 strikeouts and four walks in 23 2/3 innings.
