A Mercer County man has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a fellow passenger on a flight from India to Newark, federal prosecutors in New Jersey said Thursday.

On Wednesday, 40-year-old Ganesh Parkar was on an Air India flight from Mumbai to Newark when he moved from his seat in business class to the economy class section and sat next to a female passenger, prosecutors said.
At some point, the woman fell asleep. When she woke up she found the blanket she was using pulled down and Parkar's right hand inside her shirt and on her left breast, according to court documents.

The woman shouted, "What the hell are you doing?"

She got up and informed the flight crew, who then ordered Parkar back to business class.

Parkar made repeated requests with the crew to be able to talk to the women, which were denied.

He allegedly wrote two short notes to the woman apologizing for a "moment's stupidity" and stated, "I acknowledge I was stupid," according to court records.
