Bill Cosby to perform at Palestra after Temple-Penn Big 5 game

November 9 was always going to be a big day on 33rd Street. It just got a lot bigger.

November 9 was always going to be a big day on 33rd Street. It just got a lot bigger.

We already know it's Homecoming weekend at Penn. So what's likely to be the season's biggest crowd will be on hand for the Quakers' football game against Princeton at 12 p.m.

There's also the men's basketball season opener against Temple at 5 p.m. As I noted when the Owls' non-conference schedule was published, It's the first time there has ever been a men's basketball game

Throw in field hockey (time TBA in the morning), the women's basketball season opener (2 p.m.) and a fairly big men's soccer game against Princeton (4 p.m.), and the day gets even busier.

That's before going to any Homecoming festivites, of course, and there are usually quite a few of them.

Now there's an even bigger event to add to the schedule.

Penn announced Friday afternoon that Bill Cosby will give a performance at the Palestra after the men's basketball game. Cosby is a Temple alum, of course, and he's also an almost-annual guest at the Penn Relays.

You'd think that a Big 5 season opener would draw a big crowd no matter what. This will probably ensure a sellout.

So mark your calendars now.
