New Media basketball player Bullock dies

Police believe Bullock was not an intended target.

Devin Bullock, a senior point guard on the New Media Charter basketball team last season, died last night after he was shot in the thigh and groin April 23, Philadelphia Police Lieutenant Patrick Doherty confirmed this afternoon.

Bullock, 19, was admitted to Hahnemann University Hospital after the shooting and had a leg amputated on April 30 as a result of the shooting.

Bullock told the Daily News in February that he has lived on his own since 16 and had an apartment near 26th and Master that he paid for by working 30 to 40 hours per week at Foot Locker in the Cheltenham Mall.

CBSPhilly reported that James Cole surrendered to police Saturday and was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder. Police believe Bullock was not an intended target. Two other men were also wounded in the shooting. A charge of murder is expected to be added due to Bullock's death.
