Some Eagles notes on a Wednesday morning...
One rookie left to sign
After JaCorey Shepherd reached a four-year deal on Wednesday, linebacker Jordan Hicks is the last rookie left unsigned.
The Eagles have been locking their rookies up quickly this season. Last year, they signed four rookies within eight days of the draft, but they did not lock up second-round pick Jordan Matthews until the end of May and Marcus Smith until June 9. If Hicks signs within the next two weeks, it would mean the Eagles have all their rookies under contract before OTAs.
The key was striking a deal with Nelson Agholor so quickly. He was the Eagles' first draft pick to sign this year and the third first-rounder to sign.
Staff promotions and additions
When Chip Kelly announced his initial coaching staff, one title caught attention: "Sports science coordinator." That was Shaun Huls, who had previously been the head strength and conditioning coach and combatives coordinator for Navy Special Warfare.
Huls received a promotion this offseason to "director of sports science and reconditioning," according to the Eagles' website. The Eagles do not announce these types of changes and hirings, but Kelly has made some other additions this offseason. New personnel include James Hanisch as "high performance analyst" and J.P. Crowley Hanlon as "logistics coordinator."
Hanisch was previously the sports science coordinator at Oregon. He came to Oregon from Australia, where he was a performance analyst in the Australian Football League.
Hanlon also appears to have worked under Kelly at Oregon. An Eagles rookie referenced him last week when talking about a pre-draft visit to Philadelphia.
