Philadelphians can join Ben Franklin for a bar crawl celebrating his 311th birthday

Benjamin Franklin’s 311th birthday is coming up this month, and Philadelphians will soon be able to celebrate the inventor and statesman’s birth with the man himself.

Benjamin Franklin's would have turned 311 birthday on January 17th, and Philadelphians will soon be able to celebrate the inventor and statesman's birth with the man himself.

Well, OK, you'll be drinking with a Ben Franklin impersonator. But, still, that's pretty close.

Tippler's Tour, a "Historic Philadelphia Colonial pub crawl," will host a special series of crawls to celebrate Franklin's birthday. The tours, however, will take place Jan. 13, 14, 20, and 21, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Guests can join a Franklin impersonator for the crawl, which begins at the Independence Visitor Center at 6th and Market Streets. From there, the crawl will wind its way through several Old City bars, complete with toasts and songs from the evening's stand-in for Franklin.

The crawls are expected to last about two hours, and require about seven blocks of walking. Each crawl will conclude at City Tavern.

Tickets for the crawls run $45 for adults, and $40 for seniors, military members, and students. Admission includes tastings and gratuity.
