Man shot dead on Kingsessing porch

A 32-year-old man died tonight after being shot feet from where his girlfriend lives, police said.

The victim was found by officers from the 12th District who had heard gunshots in the area and rushed to the scene. He had been shot once in the head, and was lying on the porch of a home on Hadfield Street near 57th in Kingsessing, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

Medics pronounced the man, who is believed to live near where he was found, dead at the scene about 10:32 p.m.

Evidence at the scene included 14 spent shell casings from a semiautomatic handgun, apparently used in the shooting, Small said.

There is no information on a motive avaiable, and police are canvassing the block, looking for potential witnesses, Small said.
