McNesby steps down as Roman hoops boss

Chris McNesby, who guided Roman Catholic to Catholic League and PIAA Class AAAA state basketball titles in each of the last two seasons, has stepped down. He cited personal reasons.

"It has come to the point where my three children are quickly growing up and I and want to be there for them as much as I can," McNesby said in a press release.

"I've always tried to give 100 percent effort into everything that I do, yet I now realize that, at this stage in my life, it would be very difficult to give Roman basketball, my family, and my job all the proper attention that they deserve."

McNesby, a 1995 Roman graduate, coached the Cahillites for eight years. The squad went 27-4 last season and successfully defended its state crown with a 73-62 triumph over Allderdice in Hershey.
