A 22-year-old man was in custody after allegedly driving an SUV into three teens at a bus stop near Broad Street and Olney Avenue and then fleeing the scene, police said.

The driver was first apprehended by some witnesses who followed him to Third and Delphine Street, where the suspect parked and then tried to get away on foot but was stopped by the witnesses, said Chief Inspector Scott Small. The man, who did not appear to be impaired, was wanted on a warrant and that may have been why he fled.

The three victims — two girls, ages 16 and 17, and a boy, 17 — were taken by medics to Einstein Medical Center and were reported in stable condition.

Around 3:45 p.m., a white Ford Explorer jumped the curb near the bus stop in the 1300 block of Olney Avenue and hit the teens and a bus stop enclosure, Small said.

The accident was recorded by nearby city and SEPTA surveillance cameras, Small said. Police recovered a piece of a front wheel well and paint evidence from the scene that matched the Explorer.
