Monday’s Southeastern Pa. roundup: Downingtown West’s softball team hits four HRs in victory over Great Valley

Morgan DeFreitas hit a home run and two doubles as the Downingtown West softball team beat Great Valley, 11-5, on Monday. Carly Grandizio, Cait Coker and Nicole Lioumis each had one double and one home run. The Whippets had 15 hits.

Genevieve Ebaugh went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs to lead Kennett past Avon Grove, 12-4. She also had six strikeouts to earn the win on the mound.

Phoebe Clemens and Kayla Bock each hit home runs in Coatesville’s 10-2 victory over West Chester Rustin. Payton Landis hit a double and Melina Minniti earned the win.

Baseball

Cole Stevens and Logan Conduit had one RBI apiece as West Chester Henderson topped Oxford, 7-2. Brendan Gray earned the win and had four strikeouts.

Cole Allen went 1-for-2 with one RBI to help Central Bucks East beat Abington, 4-2. Ethan Weiss had fives strikeouts.

Nick Pesot hit a triple and Emanuel Chuckran had a double to lead St. Joseph’s Prep past Wissahickon, 7-5. Owen Evert had three RBIs. Jimmy King pitched three innings with no hits and had five strikeouts to earn the win.

Pope John Paul II edged Bishop Eustace, 3-1, thanks to Chris Sabo’s homer. Jake Wells pitched seven innings and had 10 strikeouts in the win.

Ant Bertolami went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs in Bishop Shanahan’s 8-6 win over Unionville. Matt Bertolami had six strikeouts in five innings.

Zach Anderson went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs as Abington Friends blanked Solebury School, 10-0. Von Curry hit a double.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Sarah Hartigan recorded seven goals as St. Hubert defeated New Foundations, 19-7. Emma McNamee had a hat trick, and Tori Wolstenholme and Katie Lepkowski added two goals apiece.

Catherine Merritt scored five goals in Upper Merion’s 19-7 victory over Interboro. Riley O’Malley added four goals and Bella DiSanto notched a hat trick.

Gwynedd Mercy downed Nazareth Academy, 15-10, behind Alden Boccella’s five goals. Nicole Connell scored two goals and Molly Gregor tallied one.
