Thursday’s Southeastern Pa. roundup: Central softball knocks off Franklin Towne in walk-off fashion; will meet Rush in Pub final

Kiersten Barth delivered a walk-off single Thursday as the Central softball team scored three runs in the seventh inning to advance to the Public League final with a 7-6 triumph over Franklin Towne Charter. Madison Duffy doubled, tripled, and homered for the Lancers.

In the other semifinal, Corrine Mundy struck out 11, doubled, and had five RBIs to lead Rush over Phila. Academy Charter, 8-2.

Rush and Central will meet for the title on Wednesday at FDR park at 1 p.m.

Madison Chapman was a single shy of the cycle and Morgan Chapman struck out seven as Ridley topped West Chester Rustin, 10-3. Julia Meeley added three hits for the Green Raiders.

Baseball

Damian Hammond drove in five runs and got the win on the mound as GAMP cruised past SLA-Beeber, 15-2, in the Public League second round. Jordan Bingham added a pair of triples for the Pioneers.

Freshman John Fitzpatrick tossed a four-hitter and struck out six without allowing an earned run to lift Friends’ Central over Germantown Academy, 4-2. Sam Pendrak went 2-for-2 with the go-ahead RBI single in the fourth inning for the Phoenix.

Will Higson smacked a double and a triple and scored three times as Haverford High held off Penncrest, 13-9. Pat Bond and Dan Kelleher each doubled and had three RBIs for the Fords.

Derek Smith and Kyle Campbell each laced a triple to support Josh Shiller as New Hope-Solebury defeated MaST Charter, 13-3.

Luis Beletzuy blasted a home run and Anthony Estevez lashed a triple in Morrsville’s 13-2 win over Collegium Charter.

Nolan Kline got the win, striking out six over four innings as Boyertown defeated Devon Prep, 6-4. Shayn Horrocks and Sean Sutterby each had two RBIs for the Bears.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Margie Carden scored a game-high five goals in Villa Maria’s 20-9 victory over Mount St. Joseph in the District 1 Class 2A quarterfinals. Bridget Finley and Hannah Young each added four goals for the Hurricanes, who will play the winner of Bishop Shanahan and Upper Moreland on Tuesday.

Tori DiCarlo recorded six goals as Radnor beat Perkiomen Valley, 16-6, in the District 1 Class 3A second round. Ellie Mueller contributed four goals for the Raiders, who will meet Conestoga in Saturday’s quarterfinals.
