Friday’s Southeastern Pa. roundup: Penn Charter softball clinches Inter-Ac title

Anastasia Lewis pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts as the Penn Charter softball team clinched the Inter-Ac title with a 3-0 triumph over Baldwin on Friday. Maddie Solow fueled a three-run fifth inning with a two-run double. The Quakers are 8-0 in league play with one game remaining against Episcopal Academy at home on Tuesday.

Corinne Mundy tossed a no-hitter and blasted a two-run homer as Rush cruised past Roxborough, 12-1, in the Public League second round. Alicia Brickhouse and Alyssa Gonzalez, along with Mundy, added a double for the victors, who will pay Lincoln on Tuesday.

In other second round action, Lucia Layden homered and picked up the win on the mound as Central defeated Franklin Learning Center, 19-4. Madison Duffy also homered for the Lancers, who will play Northeast on Tuesday.

Hannah McIllmurray earned the win and Northeast scored four in the fourth inning and six in the sixth inning to pull away from Saul, 10-3. The Vikings will take on Central on Tuesday.

Kaylee Burke went 5-for-5 and Amanda Stapf went 3-for-5 with a double in Franklin Towne Charter’s 13-3 win over Constitution. Cionni Hernandez added a double for the Coyotes.

Grace Hussey went 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored, and an RBI as Springfield Delco got past Cardinal O’Hara, 5-4. Jenna Smith and Maggie Loomis each added two hits for the Cougars.

Jordan Frye blasted a three-run home run and added a triple as St. Hubert downed Conwell-Egan, 10-0. Lindsey Davies helped herself with a double for the Bambies.

Abby McCoy doubled, tripled, and had four RBIs as Ridley topped Upper Darby, 8-2. Ashley Shanks, who had two hits, recorded her 100th career hit.

Hannah Slicer launched a homer and Genevieve Ebaugh pitched five innings of one-run ball in relief to earn the win as Kennett held off Oxford, 8-6.

Payton Landis hit a home run and drove in four runs as Coatesville blanked Sun Valley, 9-0. Madison Friel cleared the bases on a triple to support Melian Minniti, who pitched six shutout innings.

Natalie Beebe struck out four in a complete game as Downingtown West beat Bishop Shanahan, 2-0. Morgan DeFreitas went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in both runs for the Whippets.

Ava Paternoster went struck out 11 and went 3-for-3 at the plate in Harriton’s 12-1 victory over Academy Park.

Baseball

Conor Smith had two hits and an RBI and earned the win on the mound with three scoreless innings of relief as Methacton scored three runs in the seventh inning to knock off Wissahickon, 4-1.

Eddie Smink allowed one hit in four innings to earn the win as West Chester Henderson edged West Chester East, 1-0. Billy Hicks produced the lone RBI for the Warriors.

Nick D’Agostino knocked in two runs on a triple and struck out six over five innings in Lincoln’s 14-3 decision over String Theory.

Bryant Baez smacked a pair of doubles and had three RBIs in Esperanza’s 9-4 win over Franklin Towne Charter.

Kristian Ramos went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs as GAMP defeated Northeast, 11-1. Christian Bingham contributed a home run for the Pioneers.

Jackson Campbell pitched a four-hitter to lift Springfield Montco over Cheltenham, 3-1. Max Perry delivered two-run double in a three-run second inning for the Spartans.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Jane MacRae scored the game-winning goal with four minutes remaining and finished with five to goals to lift Germantown Friends over Moorestown Friends, 16-15, in the Friends School League semifinals. The Tigers managed to tie the score at halftime after trailing by goals. Annie McLaughlin also scored five goals for the victors.

In the other semifinal, Elizabeth Talluto recorded five goals as Shipley downed Academy of New Church, 16-10. Kate Scutt chipped in four goals for the Gators.

Germantown Friends will travel to Shipley for Tuesday’s final.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Dylan Anderson, Brock Azeff, and Cole Witoslawski each scored two goals as Souderton held off Interboro, 8-6.
