The Eagles bolstered their offensive-line depth in a familiar way Monday morning by re-signing Stefen Wisniewski, who has been with the team for three seasons and started in the Super Bowl.

Wisniewski announced the one-year deal on Twitter.

Wisniewski, 30, has started 24 regular-season games and three postseason games for the Eagles. He lost his starting job to Isaac Seumalo last season, although he was still a valuable reserve at all three interior line spots.

The Eagles declined Wisniewski’s option earlier this offseason to open salary-cap space, but with Wisniewski still unsigned, they brought him back to Philadelphia.

The Eagles might need him, too, considering they lack established depth at guard and center. That’s even more important because right guard Brandon Brooks is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon. Seumalo will start at left guard and Jason Kelce will start at center, but Wisniewski gives the Eagles an experienced reserve behind them.

Before signing Wisniewski, Matt Pryor was viewed as the top reserve at guard and the Eagles didn’t have a backup center. They have undrafted rookies competing for those spots, but Wisniewski is a player they have trusted in big games.

The Eagles are in Phase II of the offseason program and will have their first organized team activity next week.
