SAN FRANCISCO - Free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha (NAHM'-dee AH'-suhm-wah) has reached agreement on a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers that could pay him as much as $3 million this year.

Asomugha's representative, Ben Dogra, says Asomugha is expected to sign his new deal Wednesday. He was busy taking high school students around his native Bay Area on Tuesday in an effort to show them their future options and college choices.

Dogra says Asomugha met with the 49ers two times during the past two weeks.

The former All-Pro was released by the Philadelphia Eagles on March 12 after two disappointing seasons , and now he is ready to help the 49ers return to the Super Bowl and win after losing 34-31 to the Ravens on Feb. 3 in New Orleans.

Non D was going to go back to a West Coast team. He has to continue his flourishing acting career somewhere.

I can't fathom how any team would pay him to play.

One year contracts with incentives are the only way to get players with his sort of attitude to perform.

The reason they'd pay him to play would be the fact that it's a 1 year deal with no guaranteed money. By the way, Nnamdi wanted it that way, check ESPN.

We're seeing what a brilliant PR guy Non D really is. Sign a non-gtd deal & look like a great guy while collecting $4M GTD from the Birds. He's all about selling himself for his next career now.

The Giants were so desperate they had to sign two of our castoff linemen! Go Eagles!

Nnamdi is insurance for the Niners, a solid backup if one of their starters go down. He signs for $6 million if they thought he was real good.

I can see the highlights now, #24 in a red jersey chasing a receiver from behind and blaming a teammate for the catch.

The face in that pic just says... "but won't my uniform get dirty if I try to tackle someone?"
Though if anyone can get him to play, Harbaugh might.
