Great video. The designer of this ship, Francis Gibbs, grew up in Philadelphia. As we have come to know and love this floating monument on our river let's not lose this opportunity to save one of the great works of American shipbuilding. It would raise the waterfront to another whole level to have the SS United States and the USS New Jersey facing each other across the Delaware. Inquirer-- please keep covering this story!

Marvelous ship meeting a disgraceful demise. One of my lifelong dreams is to cruise the Atlantic on an ocean-liner.
