Cockfighting ring busted

Humane Law Enforcement Officers from the Pennsylvania SPCA are on site on the 4000 block of North Fairhill Street in the city's Hunting Park section at this hour investigating a suspected cockfighting operation. Earlier today, Philadelphia Police served a warrant in connection with a narcotics case and discovered numerous game birds used in cockfighting, a fighting ring and other paraphernalia. The police contacted the Pennsylvania SPCA which, through its investigation, discovered a second location on the same block suspected in cockfighting. The Pennsylvania SPCA obtained search warrants for both properties and are investigating.
