Viaduct Greene | A Light at the End of the Tunnel

Philadelphia has a potential underground "park" that almost no one knows about. Now, Viaduct Greene is trying to get SEPTA, which owns the property, to turn it into a real park, from Broad Street to the Art Museum. (Ed Hille / Staff Photographer)

Don't you love it when a person states that "no one knows about" something that's been around for many generations, because he's just been made aware of it? This tunnel has been discussed for many years and was part of a proposal for a Center City rail loop. Whether or not that's feasible, this tunnel shouldn't be turned into a "park" (which would be a crime magnet), it should be reserved for transportation.

    1. How about a map?
    2. Greene? Green. Greene (and Towne, and Olde, and Pointe) is for realtors.

The crime rate will surge! I cannot believe something as unnecessary as this potential new crime scene is actually being pushed by philly.com. This city has real priorities that are despararely underfunded or not funded at all. All of these new park ideas need to raise the money privately. Because this city is broke! Neither the High Line copy cat nor this will create jobs, they are just expensive dog parks! And as much as I like dogs, where they exercise and walk are not my first priority! We should be focusing on our children, so that are they are educated and able to obtain good paying jobs in Philadelphia!
    Palin, no way
