Just in time for the Fourth of July weekend, the New Jersey Public Advocate today released its third annual New Jersey Beach Guide, including information for consumers about costs, facilities and amenities at public beaches on the Jersey shore.
Ten of the 48 towns along the shore have increased their beach fees since last year, according to the report. Towns are no longer offering residency discounts, but more towns are selling seasonal badges in the pre-season.
"New Jersey has some of the best beaches in the world but there are significant variations in terms of access fees and amenities available to the public," said Public Advocate Ronald K. Chen. "This consumer-friendly guide tells you where to go, where to park and how much, if anything it will cost you to enjoy these beautiful beaches."
The guide includes information about fees, accessibility for those with disabilities, parking, restrooms and lifeguard coverage.
