Wings' losing streak continues as they fall to Knighthawks, 11-7

Although they hadn't lost 20 straight games like the Wells Fargo Center-sharing Sixers, heading into Sunday's showdown with the Knighthawks, the Wings were working on a little losing streak of their own.

The Wings, who started the season 1-0, hadn't won a game since February 1 heading into Sunday, and sat at 3-8, five and half games behind the division-leading Buffalo Bandits.

A week and a day prior, they fell 8-3 to the same Knighthawks team, and were hoping for a different outcome Sunday.

They had no such luck.

The Knighthawks jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, including two goals from Craig Point, before the Wings knew what hit them. Jordan Hall finally got the home team on the board at the 11:00 minute mark, but that represented the only goal the Wings mustered in the quarter.

Looking for a stronger start to the second, the Wings pushed the action and had several early attempts at goal, but were unable to convert. In fact, the scoring in the second slowed in general, as each team scored only a goal. Jordan Hall's second goal of the game cut the Knighthawks' lead to 5-2 heading into the half.

The third quarter again started with a Knighthawks' score, and it looked like it would continue to be more of the same. The Wings however began to show some bounce, as Kevin Crowley scored three goals in the third to energize the home team, and Brodie Merrill added one of his own. Dan Dawson scored twice in the quarter for the Knighthawks to keep them in the lead. The third quarter ended with Rochester holding onto an 8-6 lead.

Unlike the first three, the fourth quarter started well for the Wings. A Ryan Ward goal cut the Rochester lead to one, and the home team finally had some momentum on its' side.

That didn't last long however.

The Knighthawks stormed back and scored three straight, capped by Craig Point scoring his third goal of the game to seal it for the 'Hawks, who moved to 9-3 on the season the 7-11 victory.

This loss was the Wings' sixth straight, and it dropped them to 3-9 on the season, with six games remaining.

The Wings have almost a week off to regroup, as they are back in action next Saturday at home against the Toronto Rock, as they will look to finally end this losing streak, and turn their season around.
