EAGLES at CLEVELAND BROWNS

Cleveland Browns Stadium, 1 p.m.

TV: FOX29

Radio: WIP (94.-1 FM, 610-AM), WTTM (1680) Spanish.

Weather: Morning showers clearing to partly cloudy, high in low 70s, with 11 mph winds from west, northwest.

Game line: Eagles -9

Over/under: 43

Three keys for an Eagles win

1. Run the ball: The Browns ranked 30th in rushing defense last year and did little in the offseason to address the issue. LeSean McCoy should have a big day against the Cleveland front seven.

2. Rattle the rookies: Quarterback Brandon Weeden and running back Trent Richardson will be making their NFL debuts. Both have the talent to pick apart defenses, so the Eagles can't let either of them get into a rhythm.

3. Protect Vick: Jabaal Sheard and Frostree Rucker, the two defensive ends for the Browns, combined for 12 1/2 sacks last year. They will be looking to put pressure on Vick and make him a nonfactor.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT....DEMECO RYANS

Position: Middle linebacker

Height/weight: 6-1, 247 pounds

Age: 28

Birthdate: July 28, 1984

Hometown: Bessemer, Ala.

College: Alabama

Acquired: March 20 from the Houston Texans for a fourth-round pick and a swap of third-round picks

Career: Drafted in the second round in 2006. Was 2006 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, 2007 All-Pro, two-time Pro Bowler (2007, 2009). Four straight 100-tackle seasons before rupturing Achilles' tendon in 2010.

Contract: Currently playing on a 6-year, $48 million deal signed with the Texans in 2010. Ryans will earn a little less than $6 million this season.

Did you know? As a three-star recruit coming out of Jess Lanier High School in Alabama in 2002, Ryans picked Alabama over Mississippi State and Alabama-Birmingham. . . . Since 2006, Ryans is the fifth starting middle linebacker for the Eagles, following Jeremiah Trotter, Omar Gaither, Stewart Bradley and Casey Matthews.

WHO'S HOT

King Dunlap

The 6-9, 330 pound tackle looked to be the backup once again when Demetress Bell signed, but Dunlap has outplayed the competition and finds himself in the starting lineup.

Phillip Hunt

On a talented, but crowded defensive line, Hunt separated himself from the pack this preseason, racking up nine tackles, 3 1/2 sacks and two forced fumbles in three games.

WHO'S NOT

Michael Vick

Injuries to his hand and ribs cut his preseason short. It will be another long season if Vick can't keep himself on the field and out of the trainer's office.

Demetress Bell

The former Bill was supposed to replace Jason Peters this season, but had trouble learning the offense and ultimately lost the left tackle job to Dunlap.

OBSCURE FACT

The Eagles and Browns have met three times since 2000. The Eagles are 3-0, scoring at least 30 points in each game. The Browns, however, lead the overall series 31-15-1.
