Soul add two former Temple players to training camp roster

Via Soul press release:

PHILADELPHIA (February 22, 2014) – The Back-to-Back American Conference Champion Philadelphia Soul, presented by Parx Casino, announce the assignment of wide receiver Darryl Shine (5'10, 170, Temple), who was discovered at the Soul's last open tryouts, and fullback Jeff Link (6'1, 248, Robert Morris).  The team also added offensive lineman Wayne Tribue (6'3, 330, Temple) to the roster to complete a trade with the Portland Thunder for Andrae Thurman last week.

"We are excited to some depth to the roster during camp," said Soul head coach, Clint Dolezel.  "We are especially pleased that we were able to get some local talent.  Darryl (Shine) showed a lot of good things early in camp and getting him from our open tryouts prove that Philadelphia has quality athletes.  Jeff (Link) will have an opportunity to show what he can do, while getting Wayne (Tribue) is definitely a positive for our offensive line."

Shine played primarily special teams and wide receiver during his one year with the Owls and also attended Fullerton College prior to attending Temple.  The Team Captain was first-team All-Conference at wide receiver and kick returner for Fullerton and earned 2009 team MVP.  His efforts helped the team to back-to-back conference championships in 2008 and 2009.  Shine led the Hornets with 52 receptions for 735 yards and eight touchdowns in 2009 while also averaging 30.8 yards per kick return.

Link, who is entering his rookie season, was a four-year player at Robert Morris where he tallied 254 yards on 102 carries and four touchdowns.  He also recorded 15 receptions for 74 yards and three receiving touchdowns while with the Colonials.

Tribue was one of the anchors on the Temple offensive line during his collegiate days.  He was selected for the Casino Del Sol All-Star Game in 2012, earned Temple Offensive MVP in 2009 and was 3rd team All-MAC honoree in 2011.  He was an undrafted free agent signee of the Denver Broncos in 2012 and has spent time with the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers.
