Soul stopped by Jacksonville Sharks

The Philadelphia Soul looked to hit their bye week with some momentum. Sitting atop the league at 13-2, they were in great shape to come back refreshed for a Arenabowl run.

The Jacksonville Sharks had other plans. The Soul committed two costly turnovers late in the game that sealed their 74-67 loss to the Sharks on the road.

"This is not the way we wanted to go into a Bye Week," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel said in a press release from the team.  "Late turnovers will always kill you, but more importantly, it is about finishing a game.  This needs to be playoff mode for us.  We can't make the mental mistakes this time of year.  Jacksonville is a playoff-quality team and we will need to learn from the mistakes we made and get healthy."

Philadelphia tied the game at 67 with 49 seconds left in the game, but could not keep Jacksonville out of the endzone in less time. Running back Derrick Ross ran in a touchdown just 13 seconds later to send the Soul to a loss.

Even in the defeat, one Soul player hit a milestone. Quarterback Dan Raudabaugh threw his 500th touchdown pass with his third of the night. Raudabaugh finished the night completing 26-of-40 passes for 305 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Soul return home to face the New Orleans VooDoo at 4 p.m. at Wells Fargo Center on Sunday, August 2 after a bye week next week.  The game will be televised on The Comcast Network.
