Soul open training camp Saturday

The Philadelphia Soul enter the season having won two consecutive conference titles, but were dealt two straight defeats in the ArenaBowl.

The journey to finally get over that hump begins Saturday when the team opens training camp with a practice at 8:30 a.m. at the NovaCare Complex.

The Soul has 33 players available to them at the start of camp, but must cut down to 24 by March 7. The first round of cuts will take place Feb. 28 when teams are required to cut down to 28.

Of the 33 players in camp, 17 were members of the team last season, which won the franchise's third conference championship. Thirteen of the 33 players are brand new to the Arena Football League.

"It's always important to have key players return to our team," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel said in a team press release. "It makes our job a little easier as coaches heading into the season. But, at the end of camp, we still need to pick 24 of these very talented players. This should be a very competitive camp and the guys will have to prove they have what it takes to help us get to the next level."
