Soul fall behind early, fall short of Power

The Soul's three-game winning streak came to end Saturday at the hands of the cross-state rival Pittsburgh Power, 65-57, at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

The loss for the Soul (3-4) not only handed the team its first loss in about a month, but it also dropped the squad into last place in the East Division. The win for the Power (4-3) moved them into a tie for second place in the division.

The Soul played a mostly efficient game, but ran into all sorts of trouble during the second quarter when the offense coughed up a fumble and was stopped on downs in back-to-back possessions. The Power took advantage of the extra possessions by scoring touchdowns.

The porous start to the second quarter led to the Soul trailing the Power at halftime, 38-21. Despite out-scoring the Power 36-27 in the second half, the deficit proved to be large.

Soul quarterback Dan Raudabaugh posted a strong outing, completing 17-of-25 passes for 308 yards and five touchdowns. He also did not throw an interception.

Raudabagh's top target Thursday was Ryan McDaniel, as he caught five passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Tiger Jones wasn't too far behind with four catches for 99 yards and a touchdown.

The Soul will be back on the field at 6 p.m. May 10 when they host the New Orleans VooDoo at the Wells Fargo Center.
