The Soul remain unbeaten as Raudabaugh surpasses 30,000 passing yards

They clinched a playoff spot with the 59-49 win.

Dan Raudabaugh became the 10th player in Arena League history to surpass 30,000 yards passing and the Soul preserved their unbeaten streak, edging the Cleveland Gladiators, 59-49, Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Soul (8-0), coming off a bye week, clinched a playoff spot. They hold a one-game lead in the standings, ahead of the Tampa Bay Storm (7-1).

"This was a little slower start off a bye week than I had expected, but I'll take the win," Soul coach Clint Dolezel said. "I am impressed with how we stepped up in the second half, and we are ready to take on the second half of the season."

Raudabaugh went 20 for 27 for 303 yards and seven touchdowns.

Receiver Darius Reynolds had nine catches for 144 yards and four touchdowns.

Among Raudabaugh's company in the 30,000-yard club is Dolezel. Raudabaugh, 30, became the youngest player in AFL history to reach the milestone. It took him 116 games, the fourth fewest.

This is the second time the Soul have edged the Gladiators. The Soul beat Cleveland, 69-67, on May 5 in Cleveland.

The Soul and the Storm will face off at 7 p.m. next Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center.
