Soul trades WR Brackins to Orlando

LARRY BRACKINS, the last link to the Soul's 2008 title team, has been traded to Orlando, as the team continues to shape its roster amid injuries and a slow start.

Brackins, a 6-5 wide receiver, spent six seasons with the Soul and is the team's all-time leader in touchdown catches. His most memorable play was stretching for a touchdown on the final play as the Soul avoided an upset by New York in the first round of the 2008 playoff run, which ended in the franchise's only championship.

Brackins was dealt as the Soul completed a trade of future considerations with the Predators. Star center Brennen Carvalho was placed on injured reserve as Philadelphia added defensive lineman Rudy Cerami and defensive back Fred Shaw.

Brackins will return as an opponent on Sunday, July 6, when Orlando comes into the Wells Fargo Center. Philadelphia hosts Iowa this Sunday.

"It is always a difficult decision to move a player like Larry Brackins," Soul coach Clint Dolezel said in a statement. "Roster space and injuries dictated the need for us to make the moves. Larry did a lot of great things for the franchise, and we are very grateful for his contributions to the team. We wish him luck in Orlando."
